ok....here's the real thing about Mid-Autumn Festival or
famously known as the Moon Cake Festival.

Moon cakes are typically round, symbolizing the full round moon of the mid-autumn festival. They are usually made with four egg yolks, representing the four phases of the moon, and are sweet, filled with sweet bean or lotus seed paste. (taken from about.com)

The Moon festival (also called the Mooncake or Mid-Autumn festival) falls on September 22nd in the year 2010. What is the Moon festival? Every year on the fifteenth day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, when the moon is at its maximum brightness for the entire year, the Chinese celebrate "zhong qiu jie." Making the lanterns. Lenxie Liley bought a lot / a bunch of lanterns for the cuzzies. So we burnt the candle and decided to take a walk around the house.

Some chinese (guangzhou) symbolize the lantern as Luck.

Usually, for this festival,
its best to use flying lantern (like the Rapunzel Movie)
known as Kong Min (Hung Min).

Mid-Autumn Festival Story.......

Chang'e and Hou Yi

Long long ago, there were 10 suns in the sky. They burnt all the plants on the earth. People were dying.

One day, a hero whose name was Hou Yi used his bow and arrows to shoot down nine of them. All the people on the earth were saved.

One day, the queen of heaven gave Hou Yi a bottle elixir that could make Hou Yi become an immortal, but the elixir was only efficacious for one person. Hou Yi did want to become an immortal, but he wanted to stay with his beautiful wife Chang'e more, so he didn't drink the elixir and asked his wife Chang'e to keep it for him.

Hou Yi was becoming more and more famous after he shot down the nine suns and more and more men wanted Hou Yi to be their master. Most of them were accepted by Hou Yi.

Not every student of Hou Yi had good morality. Feng Meng, one of his students, wanted to seize his elixir. One day, Hou Yi went hunting with his students, but Feng Meng pretended to be ill and stay at home. When making sure Hou Yi had gone he went to Hou Yi's house and tried to force Chang'e to give him the elixir. Chang'e knew she couldn't defeat Feng Meng so she drank the elixir immediately. The elixir made her become an immortal and fly higher and higher. Finally, she stopped on the moon.

From then on, people often pray to Chang'e for fortune and safety. During the Mid-Autumn Festival they offer lots of foods to Chang'e.

On Thursday, we went Bndr again. So tired from JP's trip last night....
Anyway, went shopping for school's stationary for the lil cuzzies at Giant and Mall.
Then after lunch...we went to the Museum at Kota Batu.

Spend two hours at JP Playground last Wednesday. Entry is FREE.
They only sell tickets for the rides. There were just $10 for 8 rides or 8persons per ride
and also $8 for 5 rides or 5persons per ride.

We played the Bumper Car (ciyokkk waii), Carousel and the lil cuzzies played the Caterpillar and Junior Skydiver.

Although its not that fun as the yesterYears..but hoping its a good start in days to come in waking up the Jerudong Park Playground.

We went to the Year End Showcase at the Indoor Staduim Berakas last sunday.
Crowded? Yes, very~ hehe Shuttle Bus also being provided there.
So far, the event was a great one.

There were a lot of shows such as Antique cars show, Modified cars, Sound system, Ryders, Harley for sale, Car Stunt, Remote control cars competition & Concert by the locals and an indonesian band i think and lastly the main attraction, The Go-Kart Racing.....

Spend just two days and one night at Miri City. Stayed at The Grand Palace Hotel...no comment...i love the breakfast there though.

Went to this unique Restaurant
Banana Leaf Rice Restaurant & Cafe

It's very nice and no plates are needed, just banana leaves. They placed banana leaf for each person on your table, then rice, long beans, bittergourd, potato curry and chicken curry paste (optional) It cost about RM6.

In the late afternoon, went to the Taman Miri.
Very nice place to enjoy exercise, peaceful place for family and friends gathering & for the kids, there's playground and water park for free, just bring your swimming attire.

Say "NO" to Vandalism!!!!

I love these rocks thingy, i really don't know the name of it. However, it's awesome for exercise or sort of like reflexology thingy. hehe it kinda hurts but worth it for your body. Old folks just run around on these rocks and they enjoyed it.

Having dinner at the Boulevard Food Court. We chose a Japanese Cuisine for dinner.
It's very cheap. The Bento cost around RM6-RM8. Sushi is merely around RM2-RM3.
Nice and Worth it.

He was a great grandpa, always come up with lots of info, advice and stories from his younger years. Its very fortunate to be his grandchild [i inherited his height, hehe]

Anyways, i missed him so much. Updating this post about him...makes me cry and thinking that the fact i don't get to see him every weekends like i usually do...

I remember the day when he was in the ICU at RIPAS, he was very active after a day from the OT. He always said that he was ok.

I think he went to Giant the day after, to buy some shoes.
Two pairs of same kind.

Grandpa always called her Lela Seri.
Now we continue calling her Lela Seri ... so that she will have the memory of Grandpa.

Life seem so hectic and sad~

I've just loss my popo (faternal) and my grandpa (maternal) this year....
Somehow i find ways to blame me for their deaths.
I know its not my fault but this is me...i tend to blame myself for everything~
There are lots of issues in my mind~ stress level is on
"VERY VERY VERY stress!!!!"

My Confession:

I am not a good friend to be...don't believe me? Ask my friends...
I am not a good daughter that you want me to be....don't believe me? Ask my parents...
I am not a good sister...that could depend on....don't believe me? Ask my siblings...
I am not a good cousin either....don't believe me? Ask my cousins...
I am not a good girlfriend to keep...don't believe me? Ask my boyfriend...
I am not a good colleague to work with...don't believe me? Ask my colleague...
I am not a good teacher....don't believe me? Ask my students...

Lastly, I am not a good person...don't believe me? Ask GOD...

Somehow what people would said about you will be totally true....

My Grandpa (mama's side) passed away with cancer (stage 4).

Seems like yesterday, we all families hang out, watching the all videos from the past.

It was fun and now....only memories can live up the your smile that showers us every moment.

I missed the smell of pipe and tobacco.

I missed my grandpa's voice that always called me Teacher or Cikgu.

I missed the lecture that he always give to his grandchildren...
"Raymond, jangan jadi mandur, tolong ni!"
"Sara, mana buku mu? Datang sini tahu main sja."

I had a fun raya this year, spending most of my raya days with my hby & famillies... Thanx hby~ First raya as usual with my families and at LiLey's .... forgot to take pictures with her on that day hehe... we were bz with hmmmmm.... Zizan Astro? haha

PSR (Penilaian Sekolah Rendah) just ended on 8th Oct, wish all of the students get a very successful result. During the four PSR days, i got a chance to invigilate SR SG Tali PSR... i got to meet again my former students. They are all grown up... ^^,

[THREE]
Musim buah already, durian, rambutan, langsat, cempedak, nangka..u name it... i have it...(aiseh ... mcm kan buat bisnes) hehehe spent some days on weekends sleepover at Grandpa's. In the morning, best time to wait for that sound.... the sound of durian fallin'.... the cuzzies will scattered around the place to pick up the durian. hehe...

i love durian especially the RED one... Durian Otak Udang. yum Yum yum~ However if u give me cucur durian, kek roll durian, kek durian, dodol durian, bubur durian....i dislike it. hehe

Today, 9th October 2009, mark the 100th Day of My late popo. Tonight as usual will be having a gathering of families..

Holiday in Session~

However, i'm still working, just for 4days, giving the students some extra class.

b] Overnight at my Grandpa's, having a Tamaruk although Grandpa is admitted at Tutong's Hospital.

c] Papat Jambul for Azyaneva~ on Sunday Afternoon.

These are my Year 6 pupils. There are only 3 pupils. Yes threeeee, 3... hehe people said that its easy to teach just 3 pupils but NO~ percentage on their PSR examination will bring either the school's name up up or down down.

Trip~

Guru Besar, Hjh Saadiah made a trip by boat around Kg. Bang Tajuk, Kg Ulu Merangking [including Buwau], Kg. Sg Mau and lastly, Bukit Puan.

The trip starts at 2.15pm. Hby and i arrived a bit late, we were from KB.

We went down to the jetty which is located just few metres from SR OKPB Bukit Sawat.

Life Jacket [very important]

The Trip begins~ excited and weather was a bit hot and sunny.

eXplorist device helps us throughout the trip. It shows the route to our destination.

SyafiQ, Guru Besar's youngest son and also my ex-pupil [hehe] he got a bit frust cause haven't got the chance to "drive" the boat.

Karangan Batu..only can be seen when the river had low tide.

On the way from Kg.Bang Tajuk, there were people building small huts for the fishermen to have their rest.

The Guru Besar...having hard time to hold on to the tudung.. [hehehe] but hey, Thanks to her that we have a wonderful experience travelling by boat to the Kampong-Kampong.

The logs lying by the banks of the river probably caused by the soil erosion. [Aiseh..mentang2 tah Guru Geography..hehehhe]

This is where SR Buwau were located. Now looks like inhabitat.

Pura [the owner of the camera i used..hehe] with the behind scene was the School's Kitchen and the Jetty.

Abandon House by the River...looks scary....

This is the Bridge thats connecting Bukit Puan and Labi. During flood season, the river rises to almost near the blue pipes..[look at the yellow stain on the poles]

Influenza A H1N1

H1N1, well, seems like there's nothing to worry but heard that there's already 6 deaths on H1N1 in Brunei and the cases involved was about 200++. Reasons for secrecy was not to panic the public and also not to let the economy out of balanced. [I GUESS]

In hospitals, children under 12 years of age are not allowed to be in the hospital and all visitors are adviced to wear mask. I found a carbon black mask at Giant cost about $1.99 per packet. Nowadays, mask flooded the supermarket's counter and some treat it like fashion [nice!] Prices of the mask would vary from 80cents to $3 EACH [yes, each]

My Grandpa got admitted to the Ripas Hopspital, ward 21 for almost two weeks now. Visiting Hours are strict nowadays with H1N1 [damn u pigs~] so make some times to visit grandpa at 5pm onwards and also two visitors per patient [alert!]

Mkn 14 hari & Malam Gara

15th Julai was the 14th day since my grandma passed away.
We had as usual makan2. Bz preparing and all.
The next day, some of Popo's things brought to her grave at Sg.Liang & makan2 (lunch).

At night time, malam gara.
Clock strikes 7pm, all lights out, doors and windows open, we all banging all the walls, with the use of empty bottle or tins, around the house just to let the spirit to get out of the house.
Only 7 family members are allow inside the house.
The rest of us...outside.

All ready with empty bottles and cans.

They got smudge with coal by my uncle during the gara time. This is just to prevent the spirit to get inside our bodies.

Its an experience during the Malam Gara.

Last night was the Makan 3 Hari of our Popo. Luckily was not raining, people keep on coming at around 6pm - 10pm.

Our Beloved Popo

Our beloved Popo passed away on 1st July at 8am. I was working at that time. There was no signal on the mobile phone and the office phone broke down. I heard the news from my mom, she went to school and told me that Popo passed away.

She was a wonderful person and she gave us (adu-adu) many advices...

We all going to miss her smile.
We all going to miss her "peace" fingers.
We all going to miss her tickle games she used to played with us.

We all going to miss you, Popo.
